Idea to iPhone Application - TrackGeek

What is TrackGeek?

As some of you might know, I have a passion for all things running, track & field, computers and technology.  While sitting in the bleachers at the Olympic Trials last summer, I searched for an iPhone application that provided running news, photos and video.   Instead of wasting time surfing between USATFs website for results and searching Google for stories about the Trials, I wanted a simple way to gain direct access to the results, stories and other related running content.  Unfortunately, no current product existed in the iTunes store.  Currently, there are apps dedicated to football, basketball and baseball coverage, but not to running and track & field. The lack of such an application presented an opportunity.  My idea is a running news, photo and video application for the iPhone.

So that's what I am developing.  Well, a few other talented folks and I.  I don't expect to become an internet millionaire, I just want an iPhone application dedicated to my passion.  With the help of the blog, Facebook and Twitter, I hope to share my experiences and the steps I am taking to transform this idea into something real.  Along with my blog posts, I'll link to some of my favorite running stories, videos and photos from around the internet.

TrackGeek is not another running news website competing against LetsRun.com, RunnerSpace or Flotrack. And it's not a self-given nickname, like T-Bone.  TrackGeek is the name of my idea.  And soon that idea will become an iPhone application.
